The programme is specifically designed for health professionals involved in quantitative research, including clinicians, pharmacists, psychologists, therapists, and research officers in academia and industry.
As resources in health care become more restricted, choices have to be made among interventions, pharmaceuticals, and systems of care provision. Knowledge of and training in quantitative analytic sciences is one of the prerequisites of clinical research and clinical care.
The didactic curriculum of the Programme emphasizes the numerical sciences. Participants receive intensive exposure to biostatistics and epidemiology, health services research, health management, and economic evaluation. Classes are taught by experts in their fields. The participants will be engaged in a number of projects and workshops to provide a basis of applied, practical skills.
The programme is a close collaboration between the Institut für Medizinische Informations-verarbeitung, Biometrie und Epidemiologie (IBE), the Institute for Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (IHRS) and the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of LMU. The Programme will be directed by Prof. U. Mansmann, and coordinated by collaborators of the IBE and IHRS. The Programme is supported and supervised by a steering committee from the LMU medical faculty.
The course will be held in English.
