Recent Developments in Biostatistics
This course provides insight into state of the art methods in the research relevant to at least one of the following fields - Epidemiology, Clinical Epidemiology, Genetic Epidemiology or Environmental & Occupational Epidemiology. During the course the students learn the rationale for developing new methods and understand the advantages of applying new methodologies.
Prerequisites: Good knowledge of calculus, algebra and statistics

Seminars – Specific topics based on methodological papers and data sets with related publications will be presented. Students will become familiar with the topic background (methods and field of application) and discuss the possibilities for implementation of the new methods into their own work.
Tutorials/Exercise – With help of exercises and small projects, students learn how to apply the new methodological developments discussed during the seminar. Students should not only obtain the ability to use the new methods on their own, but also to identify and integrate the methods that are relevant for them into their own statistical problems.
