Research Interest
Since October 2015, I am a PhD candidate in the field of Medical Research - Epidemiology and Public Health at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) in Munich and a scientist at the German Center for Vertigo and Dizziness and at the Institute for Medical Information Processing, Biometrics and Epidemiology. My PhD research is to examine the association between cumulative exposure to anticholinergic and sedative medications and functioning in older people. Specific aims will be (1) to examine the prevalence of these medications in the aged general population and in selected aged patient populations using the Drug Burden Index (DBI) as operationalization, and (2) to analyze the potential cross-sectional and longitudinal association between DBI and dizziness, falls, and disability. Results will be pivotal for primary and specialist health care by providing a guide for risk assessment of prescription. Additionally since 2015, I have worked on health services research projects, improve and optimize the management of vertigo patients and assist in the development of complex interventions targeting quality of life in vertigo patients.
