Project Title

Investigating Prognostic Factors for Disease Progression in Treatment-Free Remission Patients with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia after Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor Discontinuation

Research Interest

The objective of this project is to assess previously established factors and identify new potential predictors that may influence the ability to maintain treatment-free remission (TFR) in patients who discontinue tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy. Through the analysis of various clinical, molecular, and patient-specific variables, this research seeks to provide a comprehensive understanding of the key determinants of successful TFR. Furthermore, the study aims to compare its findings with existing literature to assess consistency with prior research and to offer new contributions to the evolving field chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) management. In addition, this study focuses specifically on TFR in patients who have discontinued nilotinib, a second-generation TKI, as opposed to imatinib, a first-generation TKI that has been the primary focus of larger studies and prior research.
