Project Title
Outcome Prediction in Disorders of Consciousness After Severe Brain Injury: Analyses of Reliable Prognostic Parameters from Clinical Guidelines
Research Interest
In my PhD project, I focus on consciousness research and prognostication in patients with severe disorders of consciousness following cardiac arrest. I investigate the accuracy and clinical relevance of current prognostic criteria recommended by German and European guidelines, particularly as these assessments influence decisions on withdrawal of life-sustaining therapy. A central interest of my work is the prediction of recovery of consciousness, defined as emergence from coma, vegetative state, or minimally conscious state, assessed using the Coma Recovery Scale–Revised. In addition, I aim to develop an independent prognostic model to improve outcome prediction beyond existing guideline-based approaches.
