Research

Project Title:

Understanding the impact of social norms and women’s empowerment on intimate partner violence against women:

Research interests:

My PhD project examines social and gender norms and their association with intimate partner violence (IPV) in countries with low- and middle-income economies to better understand changes in IPV prevalence and norms regarding IPV. I am approaching this association from three different and understudied perspectives, the multinational level, a longitudinal lens and from a multigenerational perspective, using a mix of qualitative and quantitative data.

Areas of interest
• Gender-based violence, violence against women and girls, intimate partner violence
• Social and gender norms
• Health inequalities
• Access to healthcare
