Courses in Applied Epidemiology
The Applied Epidemiology consists of autonomous units providing more detailed insight on the practice of epidemiological research in various areas.
Please note: you choose three out of four courses which allow you to gain 6 ECTS in total.

Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases

Epidemiology of Cardiovascular Diseases
The course provides knowledge on a wide range of selected topics within the field of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) epidemiology, including pathophysiology of disease, trends in morbidity and mortality and etiologic models for CVD. The discussed themes cover also the descriptive and genetic epidemiology of CVD with focus on identification and analysis of behavioural risk factors as well as prevention strategies. The theoretical knowledge is supported by overview of major historical and current studies in CVD epidemiology.

Seminars – Students are provided with theoretical knowledge about the course topics. In addition, all students have to give a presentation on selected topic.

Pharmacoepidemiology
During the course students will become familiar with drug utilization research and various aspects of drug prescription – from parameters, through physicians habits, to patient compliance. Other topics to be covered are quality assurance, adverse drug reactions and reporting systems. In addition, the course provides knowledge on pharmacovigilance, analysis of causality as well as legal framework and international situation in the field.
